Bespoke Steel Balustrade & Structural Steelwork – Nottinghamshire

This project involved the design, fabrication and installation of a bespoke steel balustrade system alongside supporting structural steelwork across a stairwell and upper landing.

The brief was to create a safe, compliant barrier while delivering a more architectural, design-led finish in keeping with the open-plan space and large glazed elevations. A custom infill pattern was developed using intersecting steel bars, creating a unique visual feature while maintaining strength and functionality.

In addition to the balustrade, full structural steel supports were installed across the landing to provide the necessary strength and stability for the installation. These elements were designed and fabricated in-house to integrate seamlessly with the finished balustrade system, ensuring both structural integrity and a consistent appearance throughout.

The framework was fabricated from mild steel and finished in a black powder coating, paired with a timber handrail to introduce contrast and warmth against the steelwork.

The result is a clean, modern installation that not only meets safety requirements but also acts as a central design feature within the space.
