Who We Are
We fabricate every piece ourselves.
Alchemist Fabrications is run by two brothers with over 15 years of combined experience in steel and aluminium fabrication. We don't have a sales team or a call centre. When you contact us, you're talking to the people who will actually build your project.
We started the business because we were tired of seeing outdoor steelwork done badly — oversized sections, poor welds, paint peeling off within a season. We build things to a standard we're willing to put our name to — long after the job's finished.
Family-run doesn't mean small-scale. It means there's no layer between you and the people responsible for the quality of the work.
Experience & Craftsmanship
MIG and TIG. Whichever the job demands.
Between us, we've spent over 15 years working with structural steel and aluminium — across fabrication shops, site installation and bespoke commission work. We're qualified and experienced in both MIG and TIG welding, and we choose the right process for the material and application rather than defaulting to whatever's fastest.
TIG welding, in particular, is where the finish shows. The welds are cleaner, the heat affected zones are smaller, and the result looks better under powder coat. On visible joints — pergola corners, gate frames, railing posts — it's the difference between something that looks crafted and something that looks fabricated.
We're precise because the work demands it, not because it's a marketing point.

Bespoke by Default
Every job starts from your brief and your site dimensions. We don't scale catalogue products up to fit — we design and build from scratch.
Outdoor Specialists
Pergolas, gates, railings, retaining structures — we understand how outdoor steel performs over time, and we build with that in mind from the start.
Hands-On Fabricators
Nothing is outsourced. Design, fabrication, finishing and installation — all done by us or directly under our supervision.
No Upselling
We quote what the job needs. If there's a more cost-effective way to achieve what you want, we'll tell you — it's how we'd want to be treated.

We know that getting work done on your property involves trusting someone with your time, your space and your money. We work efficiently, without cutting corners — keeping projects moving while maintaining the standard we're known for.
Clear Quote
You'll receive a fully itemised quote — materials, fabrication, finish and installation broken out separately. No vague estimates.
Defined Timeline
We'll give you a realistic lead time and stick to it. If something changes, you'll hear from us — not discover it on the day.
Built Right
Fabricated in our Mansfield workshop to your exact specification. We don't rush. The timeline we give you accounts for doing the job properly.
Clean Handover
Installation is completed tidily. Site left as we found it. If anything needs adjusting, we sort it — without needing to be chased.
Quality & Finish
Built to last — not just look good on installation day.
Structural mild steel and marine-grade aluminium, selected for the application. Ground-contact and below-grade elements are hot-dip galvanised before powder coating — not just primed and hoped for.
We powder coat in-house across the full RAL range. The finish is applied in controlled conditions, not in the back of a van. It bonds properly, covers the welds cleanly, and holds its colour.
We build for UK weather — freeze-thaw cycles, standing water, UV exposure. If it's going outside permanently, it needs to be built for that from the start. That's the only standard we work to.
Where We Work
Based in Mansfield. Working across the Midlands.
Our workshop is in Kirkby-in-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire. We install across the East Midlands — Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Lincolnshire, Leicestershire — and further afield for the right project. Supply-only commissions can be delivered UK-wide.
